Slovenian National Supercomputing Network

Supercomputing for the industry

SLING aims to introduce supercomputing to small and medium-sized enterprises (SMEs). In addition, we are working to build long-term successful partnerships with potential users who see significant benefits in the use of supercomputing.

What are the benefits of using supercomputing in industry and business?

Supercomputing enables industrial sectors, such as automotive, aerospace, manufacturing, energy and healthcare, to innovate, improve productivity and develop products and services with higher value.

Supercomputing in industry and business enables the simulation and visualisation of new products, the optimisation of different processes, the analysis of big data and the design of innovative products and services using artificial intelligence.

The supercomputer is a remarkable tool because it – among other things – significantly shortens product design times and production cycles, reduces production costs, material consumption and physical testing, and optimises decision-making processes.

How will SLING support Slovenian industry and SMEs?

Despite the benefits highlighted, many companies are still unaware of the potential opportunities that supercomputing brings. SLING will provide SMEs with access to computing infrastructure and expert support. Free training courses are already available for all industrial users and in-house engineers to learn how to use supercomputing – from general to advanced areas.

This gives SMEs the opportunity to learn about supercomputing and new technologies and to conduct an assessment of the state of supercomputing and supercomputing knowledge in their organisation using the HPC4SME (Automated Assessment Tool).

Companies that use the HPC4SME tool will receive a free report with valuable recommendations on how to make the most of supercomputing in their company.

The most successful SMEs will be supported by SLING partners to prepare their application for funding and to carry out the experiment in the framework of the public call for tenders.
