About

Slovenian National Supercomputing Network

Slovenian National Supercomputing Network (SLING) is a consortium of partners dedicated to the advancement of supercomputing, networked or distributed computing, and high-performance computing systems for use in scientific research, education, business, and public administration. The consortium is led by Arnes, which represents Slovenia on behalf of SLING in European and global organisations and supports the consortium’s activities.

SLING provides users with central national infrastructure services and access to supercomputing systems and clusters. These are managed by individual members, while Arnes, as a representative, provides a test environment and training with the possibility to use the Arnes cluster.

The mission of the SLING Consortium includes:

Developing a sustainable national infrastructure of supercomputing systems and integrating them into an advanced network infrastructure (supercomputing grid).

Establishing knowledge centres and providing trainings in the use of supercomputers and other high-performance computing (HPC) systems and transferring the technology to new application areas that broaden the horizons of science.

Providing access to shared national, international and European capacity for SLING members and all eligible users.

Integrating Slovenian infrastructure into various European and international initiatives.

Active participation in initiatives such as EuroHPC JU, EGI, PRACE … and those aimed at support (EuroCC 2, CoE, etc.).

Assistance with the inclusion of new partners, and organisational, infrastructure and arbitration support for cooperation agreements between partners

At SLING, we believe in the power of collaboration and innovation. Together we build bridges to a better future, where advanced technology opens up endless possibilities.
