ASHPC26: SLING Consortium and NCC SLING Co-Create Conference Programme in Vienna

The Sling consortium partners and the Sling National Competence Centre (NCC), in cooperation with NCC Austria, have again this year co-developed the conference programme. ASHPC26 organised by the ASC Research Center (TU Wien, Austria) with the financial support of the Austrian HPC Association. It took place from 8 to 10 April 2026 at the Technical University of Vienna, with a pre-conference day on 7 April. The event continues the tradition of the Austrian-Slovenian meetings (2021-2026) and brings together users and providers of high-performance computing resources from both academic and non-academic backgrounds.

In the pre-conference part, a meeting of Central European NCCs and AI factories took place to discuss the upcoming EuroCC Phase 3 and to strengthen future cooperation. The conference programme offered a diverse range of topics in the field of High Performance Computing (HPC), focusing on the latest developments in HPC hardware and architectures, the integration of HPC with cloud services and artificial intelligence, and presentations of concrete research cases. Particular emphasis was given to the rapidly evolving field of artificial intelligence, European HPC infrastructure and quantum computing. The conference also included a technical session focusing on the architecture, configuration and operation of HPC systems and AI-optimised supercomputers, where challenges and best practices were discussed. Slovenian representatives of the National Competence Centre and the AI Factory held a joint meeting to discuss further cooperation opportunities.

ASHPC26 has reaffirmed its role as an important platform for knowledge sharing, networking and fostering innovation between research and industry, while consolidating its position as an increasingly recognised pan-European event.

The next edition of the conference has already been announced: the ASHPC27 meeting will take place in Slovenia from 5 to 8 April 2027.
