On 7 October 2025, the National Competence Centre Montenegro, in collaboration with the National Competence Centre SLING, represented by
Arctur
, organised a workshop titled AI Solutions from Innovative SMEs: Practical Examples and Lessons Learned at the University of Donja Gorica in Podgorica. The event focused on the opportunities offered by
Tomi Ilijaš, CEO of Arctur, presented new opportunities that high-performance computing (HPC) offers to small and medium-sized enterprises. He highlighted successful projects, including CLASSICA and LLMs4EU, which use supercomputers and AI to enable advanced analysis and faster workflows. The LLMs4EU project promotes the development of intelligent solutions for the tourism sector, while CLASSICA applies AI technology to assist with tissue classification in operating rooms.
In the second part of the event, representatives of NCC Montenegro and NCC Slovenia presented the upcoming FFplus – Innovative Studies for SMEs call , which will open in December 2025. The call will support European SMEs and start-ups developing generative AI solutions that lack sufficient computational resources to scale up their activities.
The event concluded with a discussion and exchange of experiences among participants, who highlighted the importance of cooperation with National Competence Centres.
